Overview

Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd was founded durring the early 9th century, by Daec Nuldzafral. The establishment of Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Daec Nuldzafral electing to pay people to resettle in Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd.

Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd was built using the conventions of Dwarvern durring the early 9th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd is buildings have been located at convienant points along the cliff Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd was built upon. Navigating the town is therefore a little chalanging as the distance between buildings verris greatly and the crampt cobblestone streets flow where they are able to be made rather than folowing the most convienant paths. The town emploies a series of defencive earthworks, spikes, and fences to provide some protection against wild beasts and smaller groups of intelegent foes. Unfortuantly, these minimaly adiquite are in extreem disrepair, so much so that one cannot tell if they are decaying from a lack of mantance or damage incured.

A look around Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd has something terribly wrong with it. It’s impossible to put one’s finger on, but something is horribly wrong. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scuttling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Maybe it’s all of those things together, or perhaps it's the way these elements combine with the simple fact that it is abundantly clear Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd suffered something horrible some time ago. It's as if the town itself is depressed. Smiles are few, cheer is nowhere to be had. Everyone quietly goes about their daily business not looking anyone in the eye. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd long.

Cultural Notes

Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd's locals are divided into several castes. They may be organized by social role, by imputed nobility of birth, by ethnic origins, or any other dividing principle, but they cannot imagine any other way of organizing themselves. A hierarchy of castes is not inevitable, but there will be social and legal limits applied to ensure that each caste remains fixed in its function. The outside world may or may not respect these distinctions when dealing with the locals.

Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by dynamic designs and complex architectural plan forms; intended to heighten feelings of motion and sensuality, and frequently based on the oval. It made extensive and extreme use of: Grandeur, Contrast, Curves and twists, Rich surface treatments, Gilded statuary, Bright colors, Vividly painted ceilings, Fragmented or deliberately incomplete elements, Large-scale frescoes, Dramatic central projections on an external facade, the use of plaster, stucco, or marble finishing, Illusory effects such as trompe l’oeil, and pear-shaped domes. While beloved by the nobility, the common folk tended to despise the style due to the massive consumption of resources required for even a small building constructed in this style.

In Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd the utterance of expletives is impossible within city limits. This has changed as the limits have changed, but has not kept up with slang, or swearing in foreign languages.

The Gremlin near Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Ådehlÿ Ÿpm Läd's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves consuming a local narcotic to channel Enchantment energies of tier 3 via oath swearing.
